playback tech

Yves Tumor 2023 world tour

Custom keyboard and midi pedal board I built for Yves Tumor. It displayed the Ableton session and the MainStage session for the keyboard player so he could tune his guitar through midi and see it on the screen while being able to control playback. The pedal board held his midi playback controller which was able to toggle through the setlist, start and stop the songs, and then we midi mapped a full effects controller to playback allowing him to filter, delay, reverb, etc any of the playback tracks in real time. I would then monitor playback from side stage, trouble shoot and guitar tech.

This playback rig was integrated with the full band and vocals via midi program changes that I programmed, which in turn basically made me full backline tech as well. These program changes were put into effect to automate all the guitar tone changes, bass tone changes, drum trigger changes, the keyboard character changes, and all of the vocal effect changes. I would send program changes to the corresponding instruments or to MainStage (vocals and midi keyboards) so that none of the players ever had to touch a pedal or change a single tone patch.
